Hong Kong - Shenzhen - Zhuhai Corridor comprises: (i) Hong Kong - Zhuhai - Macao Bridge (HZMB) Hong Kong Link Road (HKLR) and Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities (HKBCF); and (ii) Tuen Mun - Chek Lap Kok Link (TM - CLKL) and Tuen Mun Western Bypass (TMWB). They are two of the ten major infrastructure projects as announced by the Chief Executive in the Policy Address in October 2007 for economic growth of Hong Kong.
The Highways Department has since 2003 initiated relevant studies concerning these projects, such as initial consultation, site selection study for the HKBCF, and the investigation study for the HKLR, HKBCF and, TM - CLKL and TMWB.
The Government sees the importance of these infrastructure projects at both the strategic and local levels.
These projects complete a regional transportation network between Hong Kong, Macao, Shenzhen and Zhuhai, and are important to the strategic regional economic development.
Locally, it is very important and urgent to have an alternative route linking the Northwest New Territories to our world-class international airport. The link will enhance the future development of our logistics industry as one of the important economic pillars of Hong Kong.
